Abstract
Basque radical nationalism has historically opted for a strategic alliance between all nationalist forces. The nationalist front would be a way to: exclude non-nationalist Basque parties, alienate the moderate branch of the institutional path and of autonomy, recover the lost unity of the movement, accumulate forces against the Spanish enemy and achieve independence. In addition, extremists hope to snatch the moderates the hegemonic position within the nationalist camp. This article summarizes the successive frontier proposals, from 1933 to the present, and explains the reason for its failure.
