Photography

Through this photo gallery (which will continue to grow in the future with new authors and images), we aim to offer a visual account of the history of terrorism in the Basque Country and Navarre. This is a curated selection, intended to evoke ideas and reflection in the viewer rather than to comprehensively document all the visual material produced on this topic — which, in any case, would be unmanageable. Except for the section dedicated to La Gaceta del Norte, the gallery is organized by personal archives donated by the photographers, who experienced those years firsthand from behind the lens. In addition to attacks, the photographs also depict the political and social atmosphere surrounding terrorism: graffiti, demonstrations, funerals, acts of kale borroka, and more.

We would like to thank all these photojournalists for their kindness in allowing us to use their images, as well as for sharing their experiences with us from that period, reminding us that behind every image there is always a story. Any use or reproduction of these images must be consulted with the copyright holder.
