\nResumen<\/strong>
\nCuando ETA anunci\u00f3 el 20 de octubre de 2011 \u201cel cese definitivo de su actividad armada\u201d terminaban m\u00e1s de cuatro d\u00e9cadas de terrorismo en el Pa\u00eds Vasco y Espa\u00f1a. Lo letal de algunos momentos pudo hacer creer que aquello se trataba de una aut\u00e9ntica guerra, \u201cla guerra del norte\u201d. No fue as\u00ed porque ni hubo dos bandos ni la violencia cobr\u00f3 las dimensiones de una contienda, pero ello no es \u00f3bice para que al final de todo se hable, dependiendo de los sectores, de final y de paz. En ese sentido, el propio debate terminol\u00f3gico remite a antag\u00f3nicas lecturas de lo ocurrido y a contrapuestas propuestas para el futuro del pa\u00eds. El texto aborda cu\u00e1nto y c\u00f3mo hay de final y de paz, y de qu\u00e9 manera se est\u00e1n tratando los momentos postreros de ese conflicto terrorista y la fase ulterior a estos en que nos encontramos.

\nAbstract<\/strong>
\nOn October 20, 2011, when ETA announced \u201cthe definitive cessation of its armed activity\u201d more than four decades of terrorism in the Basque Country and Spain came to an end. The degree of violence employed on occasions might have given the impression that this was a genuine war, \u201cthe War of the North\u201d. But this was not the case, because neither were there two warring sides nor did the violence assume the dimensions of a war. Nonetheless, this does not prevent some sectors from talk about an end and others about peace. In this sense, the terminological debate itself refers to antagonistic readings of what happened and to opposing proposals for the future of the country. The text analyses why the words end and peace are used, and also talks about how the final moments of the terrorist conflict and the subsequent, current phase are being addressed.
