\nResumen<\/strong>
\nEl art\u00edculo analiza el final de las campa\u00f1as terroristas de ETA y del IRA en dos democracias liberales europeas como Espa\u00f1a y Reino Unido. Con ese fin se examinan las causas y las consecuencias del cese de la violencia por parte de las dos organizaciones terroristas m\u00e1s sanguinarias del continente europeo. Se analizan asimismo los factores relevantes en las decisiones de ambas bandas, entre ellos, la debilidad operativa derivada de la eficacia de las pol\u00edticas antiterroristas aplicadas por las autoridades espa\u00f1olas y brit\u00e1nicas. Tambi\u00e9n se eval\u00faan a lo largo del art\u00edculo las limitaciones de dichas pol\u00edticas, as\u00ed como la impunidad pol\u00edtica, hist\u00f3rica y moral que se ha consolidado en ambos contextos como resultado de los r\u00e9ditos pol\u00edticos obtenidos por los representantes pol\u00edticos de las organizaciones terroristas analizadas.

\nAbstract<\/strong>
\nThe article analyses the end of the terrorist campaigns carried out by the ETA and the IRA in two European liberal democracies; Spain and the United Kingdom. The causes and consequences of the end to the violence unleashed by the two most vicious terrorist organizations the European continent has known will be examined. The outstanding factors regarding the decisions taken by both groups will be analysed, including the weakening of their operational capacity resulting from the antiterrorist policies put into effect by the Spanish and British authorities. Furthermore, throughout the article, not only will the limitations of the said policies be evaluated, but also the political, historical and moral impunity which was consolidated in both contexts, as a result of the political gains obtained by the political representatives of the terrorist organizations under analysis.
