Se trata de intentar crear una alianza estrat\u00e9gica entre los diferentes grupos nacionalistas vascos que excluya a los grupos vascos no nacionalistas. Desde la primera ocasi\u00f3n durante la II Rep\u00fablica hasta la actualidad se ha intentado constituir el frente en repetidas ocasiones. Si exceptuamos la \u00faltima de ellas, el pacto de Estella (1998), la m\u00e1s importante tentativa fue la de Chiberta en 1977.
