\nLa teor\u00eda de los cleavages, formulada en los a\u00f1os 60 por Lipset y Rokkan, es una de las m\u00e1s utilizadas en ciencia pol\u00edtica no s\u00f3lo en lo que respecta al origen de los partidos pol\u00edticos sino tambi\u00e9n para el an\u00e1lisis electoral y la relaci\u00f3n partidos-electores. El objetivo de este art\u00edculo es hacer un somero repaso a la historia pol\u00edtica vasca de los \u00faltimos dos siglos a la luz de este influyente marco te\u00f3rico.

\nAbstract<\/strong>
\nSocial Cleavage Theory, set up in the 60s by Lipset and Rokkan, is one of the most commonly employed in political science not only for the origin of political parties but also for electoral analysis and relationship-party voters. The aim of this article is making a brief review of the Basque political history of the last two centuries in the light of this influential theoretical framework.
