\nResumen<\/strong>
\nLa teor\u00eda social de la naci\u00f3n ha permitido rescatar el individuo como participante aut\u00f3nomo en el proceso de nacionalizaci\u00f3n. Existe un \u00abnacionalismo personal\u00bb que explica la m\u00faltiple y contradictoria apropiaci\u00f3n que de la naci\u00f3n hace el individuo, que puede rastrearse en la escritura hist\u00f3rica. As\u00ed lo demuestran otras historiograf\u00edas europeas pese a que en el caso espa\u00f1ol \u00e9ste sea precisamente un asunto a\u00fan muy escasamente estudiado. En este sentido, los trabajos biogr\u00e1ficos pueden ser sumamente \u00fatiles para comprender la compleja identificaci\u00f3n que el individuo tiene con la naci\u00f3n y c\u00f3mo \u00e9sta no tiene por qu\u00e9 coincidir con el relato can\u00f3nico que el nacionalismo fija acerca de la identidad nacional.

\nAbstract<\/strong>
\nIn contrast with canonical nationalist discourse, the individual adopts the nation as an identity narrative and this subjective fact can change over a lifetime, as does the individual. There is a mutual involvement between nation and individual that is always autonomous from the discourse of nationalists. The latter seek to \u00abcollectivize\u00bb this experience, transforming it into a general phenomenon and taking away the specific components of each biographical trajectory. Biography and personal memories can be useful to understand the relationship between individual and nation, as Spanish historians focused on other European historiographies have showed.
