\nEn las d\u00e9cadas de 1960 y 1970 se produjo una intersecci\u00f3n de procesos de nacionalizaci\u00f3n, uno de signo vasquista y el otro espa\u00f1olista. En ambos jug\u00f3 un papel esencial la violencia. \u00c9sta se hab\u00eda constituido en referente esencial del promovido por la dictadura, mediante la activaci\u00f3n de pol\u00edticas de memoria ancladas en la exaltaci\u00f3n de la victoria en la Guerra Civil como mito fundacional del \u201cNuevo Estado\u201d. Sin embargo, en el tiempo en que este patriotismo guerrero comenz\u00f3 a declinar fue cuando el nacionalismo vasco intensific\u00f3 el suyo al completar su discurso belicista con el activismo armado. Este proceso nacionalizador ascendente se materializ\u00f3 en una primera fase simb\u00f3lica, que busc\u00f3 la destrucci\u00f3n del imaginario espa\u00f1olista. A partir de 1968 a esa fase sucedi\u00f3 otra m\u00e1s propiamente asesina, en la que la violencia se ampli\u00f3 a los individuos que representaban esa memoria, intensific\u00e1ndose este proceso diez a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s, en plena transici\u00f3n democr\u00e1tica. La memoria abertzale recorri\u00f3, as\u00ed, un camino muy diferente de que defini\u00f3 la memoria colectiva que inspir\u00f3 el proceso de transici\u00f3n democr\u00e1tica en Espa\u00f1a.

\nAbstract<\/strong>
\nIn the 1960s and 1970s Basque and Spanish nationalizing projects overlapped in the Basque Country, with violence exerting a major role in both of them. Franco\u2019s Dictatorship used violence as a prominent tool to promote policies of memory extolling the Civil War as the foundational myth of the \u201cNew State\u201d. But when this bellicose patriotism started to wane Basque nationalism created its own version with a belligerent discourse accompanied by a call to arms. This raising nationalistic project had a first and symbolic stage dedicated to destroy the Spanish imaginary. It then, since 1968, evolved into a new and violent phase characterized by the killing of prominent individuals who symbolized that memory. That campaign of violence intensified during the transition to Democracy, helping us to understand why the abertzale memory followed a different path from that of the collective memories recalled to support Spain\u2019s democratic transition.
