\nLa estrategia denominada \u00absocializaci\u00f3n del sufrimiento\u00bb comienza en 1995 con el asesinato de Gregorio Ord\u00f3\u00f1ez. Tambi\u00e9n en este momento las universidades del Pa\u00eds Vasco y de Navarra vieron c\u00f3mo la amenaza de ETA se cern\u00eda sobre ellas. Una parte de la comunidad universitaria, que desde los a\u00f1os 80 hab\u00eda escrito en prensa para deslegitimar el terrorismo y organizaba concentraciones de Gesto por la Paz en sus campus para protestar contra los asesinatos y secuestros, empez\u00f3 a estar en el punto de mira de ETA. De la violencia gen\u00e9rica en los campus y en los claustros se pas\u00f3 a las amenazas con nombre y apellido. De ah\u00ed a los escoltas primero y a hacer las maletas para huir del terror despu\u00e9s. Esa mayor amenaza creci\u00f3 en paralelo a la resistencia que mostraba la Universidad, siendo precisamente ese combate contra ETA una de las principales causas por las que pas\u00f3 a convertirse en un objetivo de primera l\u00ednea para la organizaci\u00f3n terrorista. \nThe so-called \u00absocialisation of suffering\u00bb strategy began in 1995 with the assassination of Gregorio Ord\u00f3\u00f1ez. It was also at this time that the universities of the Basque Country and Navarre saw the threat of ETA looming over them. Part of the university community, which since the 1980s had written in the press to delegitimise terrorism and organised Gesto por la Paz rallies on their campuses to protest against murders and kidnappings, began to be targeted by ETA. From generic violence on campuses and in the cloisters, it moved on to threats with names and surnames. From there to bodyguards first, and then to packing up to flee the terror. This increased threat grew in parallel with the resistance shown by the university, and it was precisely this fight against ETA that made it a prime target for the terrorist organisation.
